Felt crafty today so I took out my cardstock, patterned papers, scissors and glue, and made some postcards. Of course by the time I was ready to shoot a pic of them it was already getting dark outside, hence the bit crappy quality of the pics. I need to learn how to play with lighting!

My new handmade recipe/menu binder which I worked on this evening. It is not completely finished yet, I plan on adding tag with some text/image to the front as well. I had some trouble with the inside paper around the area where the ring system is attached to the cardboard.. but overall I think I did a pretty good job.



And I even managed to not make the kitchen table look like one of my boxes with craft supplies had exploded! Now this project did not require a lot of different material so that probably is the reason why it looks reasonably orderly. ;-)

As a summerjob I recently started working part-time at a scrapbook supply distributor and am given a discount on the products we sell. That is something I of course have to take advantage of!:) Here’s an overview of some of my newest scrap/craft supplies!

project idea

Yay, I was able to find page protector/photo sleeves I was whining/writing about earlier this week at Scrapbook Outlet Online.com for an affordable price after all. And best of all, I won't even have to pay shipping!! As it happened their main facility is located in Amsterdam, and actually pretty much right around the corner from where I live too. How neat is that?

As it is an "online outlet store" they don't carry the newest products but after browsing around for a bit I found a LOT of nice stuff in stock. Also, once they sold out a product, it won't be restocked. Only ordered what I really was looking for though, the page protector/photo sleeve thingies, and an really nice chocolat brown corduroy album (which was marked fown to 10€! Normally you pay like €35).

My goal is to try and make photographs every day for the next 6 months and to pick my favorite set of 4-5 photos every week to place in my project album, together with a journaling card. I wanted to start July 1rst, next week, but that date falls on a wednesday and I don't want to cut my weeks in half like that. So instead I think I'll be starting next monday June 29th. Gives me one week to prepare the album; sort out some nice cardstock/paper for the journal cards and cut them to the proper size, decide on how to date the pages&photos, stuff like that. I hope I will be able to come up with some interesting/nice/fun/good photographs over the next 13 weeks to come. If all else fails, I will at least have a real nice photoalbum with a lot of photographs and stories about our cats ;-)

text paper scraps

For various craftprojects I like to use texts as backgrounds, like newspaper or bookpages. I tend to find Dutch and English texts slightly boring though, as a) I can read it /giggles and b) I have already used it in so many crafties. So I am looking for some more foreign text papers.. If any of you happens to have some non-dutch/non-english newspaper or other pages with text laying around, and wouldn't mind cutting some of them up and mail an envie of them to me, I'd be delighted! Of course I'll mail you something nice in return, maybe a nice card (or ATC if you like those) I made or maybe you can think of something yourself you'd like.

scrap/journal/photo project

Prompted by this craft kit "Project 365" by Creating Keepsakes - which unfortunately is sold out and doesn't look like it'll be available again at a later point in time - I decided to try and work out my own album/project idea based on this kit.

I like the idea of a-photo-a-day and similar challenges/projects. I like the idea of a scrapbook, too. The way this Project 365 kit is set up makes it easy to incorporate the two in a way that doesn't take too much time and equipment. You simply print your photos, scribble something about them on a journaling card, and stick it in the protector sleeve. And you're pretty much done. Simple and easy and not at all time consuming, and you can make it as easy or complex by adding embelishments as you go. I have plenty of scrapbook supplies; tons of different cardstock that I could cut journaling cards and photomattes off, ribbon and buttons and embellishments galore, stamps and rub-ons to create text blocks, etcetc. I also have material to make my own 12x12 binder. So all I lack are the 12x12 page protector sleeves that are divided into 6 4x6 pockets. I found some different ones by We R Memory Keepers and decided on 3 different types so I can arrange the pages a bit different throughout the album.

Wasn't able to find any stores close to home that sell them page protectors, so I guess I'll have to either find a store here that carries them (even if they only have the standard ones with the 6 4x5 pockets), or change the whole idea around. I guess I could go with 12x12 scrapbook papers as a background and stick the photos and journaling cards on there. But that kind of defeats the whole idea of "easy and practical" of the page protector sleeves. Plus I'd have to find coordinating photo mattes and journaling cards cause otherwise it'll look like crap.

This is a card I made for my aunts birthday.



She loves to shoot photographs and share them on her Flickr. My sister and I gave her a pro-account on Flickr as a gift, and I made this card to not arrive at her birthday empty-handed. :)
