circus animals
For a friend's daughters 8th birthday I made this circus animal train card yesterday.
I was a little (very!) strapped for time so I kept it rather basic and without a lot of embellishments and added details, but I have to admit that though it's simple, I do quite like it. Am definitely going to be making this card again when I have more time on my hands, and add a little more detail.
The "train wagons" are actually made of the bottom part of this Marriane Design Creatables birdcage. :D Not quite sure where I originally got the wooden animal figures, I think the HEMA. Cardstock used came from my ClubScrap stash.

masking technique
This ATC has been made using a masking technique I spotted a little while ago over at the Hero Arts blog. I am too lazy to look up the tutorial video but if there's interest I'll go and dig it up. :)
I stamped the flower both on the card as well as a couple of scrap pieces of paper, then cut out the image from the scrappaper to use as a mask. I used a dabber and distress inks to color. Then once I heatset the ink (too impatient to wait until it dried on its own) I stamped the script over the flower, using another mask to keep it inside the flowerpetals. This is a fun technique, definately one to try more often with other stamps as well.

harten envelopje
The other day I was in the mood to play around with my paperpunches for a change, and these this postcard was one the endresult of this playfull mood (which now has found a new home at my mums dresser, I gave it to her for her birthday yesterday to go with her present). :) I really need to find a nice way to photograph my postcards and other items that don't scan well, am far from happy with the image of this card - it looks so much nicer in real!
This card was also entered in the Challenge #39 - Hearts over at Crafty Cardmakers. My first entry to a challenge ever!

ecoline inks
I have been having so much fun with my new ecoline inks (liquid watercolor inks) that my mum gave me for my bday it's almost insane! :-)
I've used it to create fun and colorful backgrounds (who knew that salt would create such fun patterns in ink?) and also used it to color in stamped images. The latter sounds childish maybe but it's proving to be a great way to relax and destress for me heh. I love painting and all but since I can't really paint shapes'n'all, just color in or do big stuff like paint windowsills and doors and walls while house renovating heh. So using a stamped image as my workfield is just perfect!
A couple of weeks ago I bought this cute set (click to view) of clear stamps by Hero Arts when it was for sale in a local craftstore here. I've used alcohol inks to color in the images after stamping them with distress ink and made some really fun ATCs this way and am working on some postcards too.
Yesterday I made a quick detour by the Pipoos while at the mall to get some stuff from the drugstore and ohh.. I'm like a kid in a candy store there! They had all of their clearstamps for sale and I couldn't help grab me some (click to view). Now these were €1.26 and €3.10 a set so luckily I didn't dent my wallet too much. :-D Also got me 4 new colors of ecoline -- there's a total of 48 different colors, the kit my mum gave me has 10 in it and I now added a white, magenta, sharlaken and a dark yellow to my stash. I've experimented with mixing colors a little which is fun, too! So much fun in such a small bottle :P

Cuppa anyone?
Here's 3 ATCs I made for the Tea Party for Two swap over at ATCsforAll.com earlier this January.
I liked the ducky tea cup so much that I was a little sad letting go of it. I didn't have time to make another ATC or I would have kept it! I mentioned this to the swaphost and she was so kind to stick a sticky note on my own tea cup and mail it back as one of my return cards! So the lil ducky is now in my personal collection of cards :)

Some oldies
A Room with a View.
The windows have "real" glass in them (gotte love acetate sheets.. however the acetate didn't like my heat gun too much when I was trying to make the ink dry faster.. hah!) and you can open them to "take a peak outside".
Happy Holidays
When you open the door of this cute little house, there's a piece of ribbon in there that reads "Happy Holidays". :)
I love this stamp btw. I've used it to create a handful of Christmas cards and will definitely be using it for more next year.

Stamping techniques swap
Thursdayevening I finished my cards for another swap over at ATCsforAll.com. I've already showed one of them, the Fassi Jewel card I posted 17 December. Here's the other two cards.
The background of this ATC is made with distress ink, spritzed water and perfect pearls mixed on my craftsheet then I dipped the cardstock in there. Once dry I stamped the background with a script blockstamp. Seal stamped with fired brick distress ink then embossed with clear powder to make it pop out some. Scriptstamp by Blockhead, other stamps by ClubScrap.
For this background I used a resist-technique using white ink for the flowers, then sponged on the other colors and wipped of with a tissue. Large dragonfly embossed with clear powder. All stamps are by ClubScrap (except for the lil red flower, I don't remember where I got that one from).
